Me ha parecido muy entretenido y aterrador a la vez (recomiendo leerlo de noche para sentir esas sensaciones que no estás solo en tu habitación).Me encanta la manera de narrar de King, conociendo los diferentes puntos de vista y los sentimientos de cada personaje.
I liked this book far more than I expected. Even though I had already seen the movie and knew many of the twists, the novel still managed to surprise me. I preferred the book’s ending, and the relationships—especially within the Torrance family—are much more deeply developed. Dick Hallorann’s role feels more grounded and impactful here, leaving a lingering, eerie unease that stays with you long after finishing.
I enjoyed this and can see why it is such a popular Stephen King book. I personally didn't feel frightened reading it, perhaps because I was so aware I was supposed to be that I kept expecting that it would get even worse (which it did mostly). Readers who have been through addictions, abuse, and family related traumas will I expect find this triggering, which in itself will make it more real and horrifying to the reader. I feel like King has done an excellent job at showing the development of the hotel as a character, with giving the history of it and its downfall through the years, right through to the evil leaving at the end. It certainly puts the reader through a wide range of emotions. From the hatred for Jack when he was taken over, the fear and self-loathing he faced when he came back to himself, Dannys amazing courage to stand up and face the evil things he sees and Wendys strength to fight for both Danny and Jack (until hes out of reach). Not forgetting the love and belief she had in her son, even before she saw/heard any of it for herself. It was a first-time read for me, and I've never actually watched the film, although I knew the gist of the story. It's one I'm certain I will read again.

Decided to reread before finally reading Doctor Sleep, and I enjoyed it more than I originally did in high school. A step below It and Salem’s Lot, but still a classic.
