This review was published after the occasion of the exhibition: 'Starting at Zero: Black Mountain College 1933-57', which took place in 2005 at Arnolfini, Bristol, and in 2006 at Kettles Yard, Cambridge. The exhibition, which is the subject of STARTING AT ZERO, explored the evolving vision and reality of the most unlikely community produced by the Black Mountain College, one of the most productive and star-studded episodes in 20th century American Arts.
