This book was a bit of a gamble for me. I have a bad track record with contemporary romances. But I took a shot hoping that the premise and it being Sapphic would fix my lackluster enjoyment of these books. That was apparently not the case, I guess.I'm not quite sure my issue with romances (i love a romance sub plot of a book) so I guess I just need more of a plot. I liked the start of this book more, there was some great bullying banter between characters and our MC messing with a guy I did not like. However, the romance just wasn't it for me. I cared more about the friendship between Delilah and Iris. Also who even falls in love within less than 2 weeks? Baffling to be honest.I will keep with my endeavor to find romance I like. Take my review with a grain of salt however if you like insta-lust, miscommunication, the love interests falling "in love" very fast and the "we are now in love, one of us must uproot our lives and move between towns" trope.
Solid four stars. It was cute it was gay and it had an adorable kid. This book was nothing majorly different then the the rest of the romance books. However this book made me laugh out loud and I had an enjoyable time reading it.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this book!!!! The cast of characters in this book are just hilarious! Can't wait to see more of their interactions in the next two books.Synopsis: Delilah Green has moved to New York and swore never to go back to Bright Falls where she grew up. But when her stepsister asks her to take the photographs for her wedding, she finds herself back in the small town. Her stepsister, Astrid, seems to act much differently now that she is with Spencer, and Astrid's two best friends, Claire and Iris seem to be up to something. Delilah was never close with Astrid's friends but now that they are all together again, she gets to see a different side of them - especially Claire. As the two are forced together for all the pre-wedding events, it seems like the two don't want to be apart. Is there going to be something between Delilah and Claire??I have found that I am a huge fan of sapphic romance, and this one did not disappoint. I did enjoy the differing personalities between Claire and Delilah. Their romance has a perfect combination of sweetness and heat. Clearly they both wanted to follow their heart but they also seemed hesitant to let it derail their routines. And in the process of trying to figure their relationships out with each other, it also helps them figure out the relationships with others around them - Delilah with her stepsister Astrid and Claire with her child's father. What started out as a simple fling has shown the two women that there might be more to life than they previously thought. Beyond these two characters and their relationships, the other characters were written so well! I honestly felt like the characters were leaping off the page. I can't wait to read the other two books in the series to see more of those characters as well as Delilah and Claire.This book definitely lives up to the hype and I could totally see myself reading this again down the road, even though I know what's coming. Highly recommend!!Quotes:- It wasn’t a complete lie.
