I think the best way to describe this is that we can't always fix everything and it reminds me of the saying that "every action as an equal and opposite reaction."
Takopi does his best to try and fix everything but it itself doesn't understand this new world that it is in. Shizuka has been faced with so much pain in her life that all she wanna do is escape it, but she has her dog as her safety net, this she eventually loses and then she finally decided to give up. Even during this scene we can fully see how truly naive Takopi is to the world. We see him try to help her as well as Taichi but keeps failing everytime. We how things spiraled out of control until it eventually went fully to crap. After all of this we truly see that this was never Takopi's first time doing anything like this and that this wasn't its first time on earth.
I also feel that it can be said about the difference between both planet, Happy Planet and earth, in happy planet they have some much things that happiness is the only emotion they feel and they just live blissful and unaware. it ca be similar to people who grows up in health environments having like a coming to life moment when they realize that not everyone is perfect and they have to learn the hard truth.
trauma is real and all three of these characters faced it some way of another, they are three broken kids that society and the adults in their lives fail.
