Tell Me No

Anthony is my best friend. I was there when he lost his first tooth, the first person he called when he finally turned in his ‘V-card,’ and the shoulder he leaned on when his parents passed away. For over twenty years, we’ve been inseparable. Before high school, throughout college, and even through every girlfriend he’s had, or boyfriend I’ve loved. So, when he called me up to tell me he and his fiancé of almost a year decided to call it quits, it was a no-brainer that he needed me. First, it started with the basics of what happened over the phone. Then, we moved on to the drinks at our favorite bar. And by the end of the night, he was hovering his lips an inch from mine, demanding I tell him no, but I didn’t–I couldn’t. But when the night is over and the alcohol has worn off, will we still feel the same?
