As they navigate the complexities of their unexpected relationship, both characters find themselves grappling with the barriers they've constructed around their hearts. Each correspondence reveals layers of their lives, inviting them to peel back their defenses and confront their histories. Bound by circumstances that seem both fortuitous and chaotic, their interactions become a mirror reflecting their innermost desires and fears.
Amidst the laughter and shared joys, the journey ultimately pushes them to consider what it truly means to let someone in. With humor and tenderness, their budding relationship proves that sometimes, the most beautiful connections arise from the most unintentional moments.

It felt like reading real emails between friends and getting to watch the relationship develop naturally. I’m really impressed with how fleshed out both the characters and the story felt with this being a short story. The connection didn’t feel rushed like a lot of short stories can.I haven’t read anything by Christina Lauren before but look forward to reading more by them in the future! Go read this on Prime, you won’t regret it.
This was a fun read, the first half was all emails, cool concept. T and C were great characters, I enjoyed their individual development... fun read.. like me a HEA..
Subject line: accidentally fell in love in under 100 pages 💌✨💘The Exception to the Rule by Christina Lauren completely ambushed me in the softest way possible 🥺📧💞I read this so fast it basically dissolved in my hands 📖💨 One minute I was “just starting a cute Valentine novella” 💕🌹, the next I was at the end, blinking at my screen like wait… that’s it?? I need MORE 😭💗This was the perfect kickoff to my little Valentine novella deep dive because it’s pure, concentrated adorableness 💌✨ The emails? Elite 📨💻 The slow burn through inbox banter? Immaculate 🔥💬 Watching two people grow up alongside their annual almost-connection had me grinning like I was personally CC’d on every message 😭📩💘And that ending… I was this close to crying 🥹💓 Not dramatic sobbing. Just that overwhelmed, heart-too-full, soft little ache that comes from something being unbearably sweet 🫶💞 It felt earned. It felt cozy. It felt like fate finally clocking in and doing its job 🕰️💖✨I secretly want a whole novel about them 📚💗 A sequel. A spin-off. Their grocery lists 🛒💌 Anything.4 stars. Zero notes. Just me clutching my Kindle like it delivered a love letter with my name on it 💘📖✨💕
