From the author's note: "Sometime during the latter half of 2006 I became obsessed with the idea of your mama jokes. Something about the way this certain type of slightly taboo subject matter gets thrown into a rival’s face appealed to me. During 2007 I started to compulsively tell your mama related insults in my internal monologue. These ramblings began to take the form of raps or songs, and I would also rewrite the words to known songs to suit this theme. They became more extreme and sexual, and I was no longer mentioning them to friends. In 2008 I was diagnosed with intrusive thoughts when the subject of sexual songs came up during a session with my psychiatrist.If these poems come across as banal, repetitive, or even sexist, I can appeal only to the nature of their construction. They are the literal manifestation of my disability, and if their content is more taboo than their context, I can’t really tell."
