The history of the al-Nagi family. A resident of the alley, Ashur Abdullah survives the great plague and performs good deeds for the people of the alley. He is chosen to be their clan leader and henceforth is known as al-Nagi. As generation follows generation, the family slowly lose their status and power. They experience love affairs, divorce, murder, and betrayal, until one member finally brings the al-Nagi to glory again.
