This was such an emotional rollercoaster, and I loved it so much. However, I wasn't prepared for the heaviness of the family and personal trauma - it worked for me, but I can understand how it might not be for people who were expecting (like me) a light rom-com. The struggles both characters were facing were real and tangible and when Anna found out something personal - her reaction was so raw it deeply moved me. I would have loved to dive deeper into Quan's family and struggles, but at the same time, I felt very connected to Anna in many ways - including her anxiety and people-pleasing ways- that I also appreciated the deep dive into her mind and perspective. I also loved that this book featured two Asian Americans and opened up the conversation about caregiving and burnout and different family dynamics. This book is deeply personal, as described in the author's note, and the emotion and heart put into this were palpable. A deeply moving and heartfelt story that I wholeheartedly recommend - as long as you don't expect a fun, light read.
