Aibileen is a black maid, a wise, regal woman raising her seventeenth white child. Something has shifted inside her after the loss of her own son, who died while his bosses looked the other way.
Minny, Aibileen’s best friend, can cook like nobody’s business, but she can’t mind her tongue, so she’s lost yet another job. Minny finally finds a position working for someone too new to town to know her reputation.
Seemingly as different from one another as can be, these women will nonetheless come together for a clandestine project that will put them all at risk.

I could believe how fast I fell into this book. It's been so long since I've been able to do that. And I only picked this book up no more than 10 times. I would read huge chunks of it because it was so intriguing. I would recommend this book to anyone. It was wonderful. The writing was smooth and the author introduced mysteries that kept the reader intrigued. The plot had several intertwining stories, expected because it is told from three separate views. I watched the movie, which surprisingly didn't completely ruin the book. Be warned though, some parts are missing or changed slightly so that the viewer can get as much of the story as possible without making it 4 hours long.
