توضیحات

Leaving behind a world on the brink of destruction, we came to the Red Planet & found the Martians waiting, dreamlike. Seeking the promise of a new beginning, we brought our oldest fears & deepest desires. Humanity conquered Mars--& in that instant, Mars conquered us. The strange new world with its ancient, dying race & vast, red-gold deserts cast a spell, settled into dreams, changing us forever.

The Martian Chronicles is an interesting collection of short stories of humanity leaving Earth to colonise Mars set over several decades.I really enjoyed the early chapters of Earth's first few expeditions and the difference in perspectives we get throughout the book of differing ideologies from those settling on Mars, especially in the middle part of the story. While some chapters didn't land as strong as others, the overarching narrative was really engaging and it's downright impressive how much Ray Bradbury could conjure up when writing this in the 1940s. I didn't expect the story to go the way it did but it left a strong, thought provoking impression on me.
