This book had a premise I was genuinely excited about, but unfortunately the writing style didn’t fully work for me. The tone felt inconsistent, moving between very youthful dialogue and a more mature fantasy voice, which made the characters seem younger than intended.I also noticed strong similarities to other well known books that, for me, distracted from the story rather than enhancing it. Combined with some unclear worldbuilding — particularly around whether the setting was urban fantasy or a traditional fantasy world — the pacing and flow felt uneven throughout.There’s definitely an interesting idea at the core of this story, but overall it was a bit of a struggle for me to stay immersed.
