Thornbury Pubs

The information gathered together in this book is backed up by over fifty illustrations and gives an insight into one aspect of life in Thornbury through time. The High Street has over the years contained eleven pubs, only three of which are still trading. Today, purchases can be made from shops, business undertaken, or a relaxing coffee enjoyed in buildings or on the site of buildings that were once pubs. For those who frequent any of the town's pubs it will give them an insight into the history of their 'local'. For others it is a glance into the social aspect of the drinking culture of past generations and the effect it had on society.
