Darcy continues her journey in Through Battle and Blades, and what an apt name for this installment. She will not only need to learn how to deal with the aftermath of challenging the Queen to a duel, but the continued Reaver attacks. Those attacks are becoming stronger and stronger, and Darcy and her men worry and try their best to handle it all before it comes to a head.We slowly discover more of the backstory to the current events through Darcy’s visions, and I like how this is woven in. It doesn’t feel like too much, and it’s written in a way that doesn’t confuse current and past events.Darcy will have to sacrifice more than she ever imagined in order to win the fight, one that at times feels like a losing battle- training, facing off the reavers, and the looming duel with the queen hardly give them a time to slow down. She learns more about herself and what she can do, as well.The ending… oh boy the ending. This one doesn’t end on a big cliffhanger, but it does end with tears and the desire to begin the next right away. Looking forward to the next book!
