It picks up exactly where it left off from the first one, but I don’t like that Freya is angry and resentful in the beginning. Moving on…this book is nearly perfection. The mystery…the twisted truths…the half truths…the revelations and the plot twists…phew. It’s safe to say that this is probably one of the best reads I’ve finished this year because this has everything it needs to finish what Jensen started. I would have liked for the book to have been a trilogy because it feels unfinished, but this will definitely fill in a lot of holes and questions that you get from the first book and it will DEFINITELY help you understand the frustrating characters from the first book and their motives. And might I say…the revelations in this book will definitely make you question everything you know about the characters and their intentions and fill that mystery hole inside of you. However, sadly, the ending didn’t fulfill or do any justice to this book. It was sort of plain and bland, where I was expecting Jensen to reveal that Bjorn and Freya were going to have a child or had a child. I would have loved to see Bjorn’s reaction to that—but it was satisfactory.
