The author has been involved with suspension design and development for Race and High performance road cars for over 40 years.StartingHis career in the early sixties, Suspension components for this kind of aplications have evolved from a simple Coilover spring/damper unitto very complex instruments adjustable in more than four ways.The ride and handling of a race car is very sensitive to a well tuned suspension system which can make the difference between success and failure.The author successfully designed an adjustable gas pressurized hydraulic damping system using the lifting force of the variable gas pressure to carry part of the sprung weight, keeping the tire in optimal contact with the road surface.after many years of experience obtained in the real world of motor racing, testing and driving high performance sports cars, zuijdijk earned a reputation as suspension expert, successfully integrating the benefits of gas pressure into the damping system of modern race and sports cars.
