توضیحات

Tochtli lives a life of privilege in his lavish palace, but his interests set him apart from the opulence that surrounds him. He possesses an unusual fascination for hats, samurai, and unusual weapons, alongside a passion for dictionaries. Tochtli's world is a blend of innocence and the complexities of adulthood, where he navigates through the challenges tied to his family's expectations while clinging to his unique hobbies.

His vivid imagination leads him to pursue an extraordinary adventure that transcends the confines of his royal background. With a voice that echoes the innocence of childhood, the narrative captures both the whimsical nature of Tochtli’s obsessions and the stark realities of life that await him, creating a captivating exploration of identity, culture, and the bittersweet nature of growing up.

At the library, when I borrowed 'Down the Rabbit Hole' (Fiesta en la madriguera), I imagined I was going to read about the hardships of the Aztec people, such as the bloody aspect of the practice of human sacrifice. The story is written in the first person. It is easy to see that there are no influences from the thoughts of other authors.

The story is very far removed from the 500 years that separate the Aztec population from modern Mexican culture. The tale is very well-crafted. Juan Pablo Villalobos is persistent and repetitive with certain terms, pushing the limits of what is possible for a coherent understanding. Nonetheless, he managed the development and execution of this short novel in an entertaining way.
