War in the Pacific

Although designated by the Allied leadership to be of secondary importance compared to Europe, the Pacific theater witnessed some of the bloodiest engagements of WWII. The Japanese proved that they were a tough, tenacious opponent capable of determined, yet costly, resistance. This book documents the war in the Far East from the perspective of military aerial photo reconnaissance. Each major campaign and action across the three broad fronts of mainland China, from Burma to New Guinea, and the central Pacific are documented. It covers the British defeat in Malaya and Indochina all the way up to the ultimate nuclear destruction in Japan.
