Das Buch war von Anfang an mega spannend und hat sich ganz anders entwickelt, als ich vom Klappentext erwartet habe.
I am giving this one a teetering 4/5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I listened to the audiobook and did enjoy much of the story and the portrayal of fear, childhood, parent issues, etc. The narrator was great and did a good job differentiating characters and doing a child voice. I also enjoyed the author's talking for the Intro and Afterward. I did not enjoy the female lead's constant references to her being in improv or how dumb she was about how kids are, which constantly caused issues. Not to mention her making dumb choices that screwed them over. I get that horror often has characters doing dumb stuff but this was a bit too much for me. I was going to give it 3/5 stars towards the end but then there was a different tangent it went on and I was liking it so thought maybe 4/5 stars but then it super dragged out the very end and I was back to 3/5 stars. Luckily, I listened to the Afterward which is the only reason it bumped up to 4/5 stars for me.
So good! The story sucked me right in. While the idea of a child's dreams coming to life isn't unique, this is done in such a good way. The story swept me in, and broke my heart repeatedly. A great read.
