Born in Berlin, he developed a keen interest in computer science during his studies at the University of Karlsruhe, where he earned his degree in business informatics. Plattner's vision for real-time data processing and management laid the foundation for SAP’s success, particularly with the development of its flagship product, SAP R/3, which revolutionized enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
