เรื่องเริ่มต้นที่วันฝนตกวันหนึ่งในเมืองแดร์รี่และเด็กชายตัวเล็กสวมเสื้อกันฝนสีเหลืองและรองเท้าบูทยางสีแดง เด็กน้อยวิ่งตามประกบเรือกระดาษหนังสือพิมพ์ที่พี่ชายพับให้และเคลือบพาราฟินอย่างดี มันลอยไปถึงแอ่งน้ำขัง ตรงหน้าท่อระบายน้ำ ก่อนจะหายลงไปในท่อจนได้ ในท่อนั้นไม่ได้มีเพียงเรือกระดาษและน้ำที่หมุนวน ยังมีดวงตาสีเหลืองของตัวตลกด้วย ตอนนั้นเองที่เด็กชายได้รู้ว่าไม่ใช่แค่เรือกระดาษเท่านั้นที่หายลงท่อไปได้ แต่แขนซ้ายของเขาเองก็หลุดหายเข้าไปในท่อระบายน้ำได้เหมือนกัน

Between the mystery surrounding Derry, the characters, the friendships, the fear, and everything lurking underneath the surface, I felt like there was always something waiting to be uncovered.Pennywise and the atmosphere of Derry made this such an unsettling reading experience. The way the story explores fear and how it can follow people through different stages of their lives made the book feel even deeper than I expected.The Losers' Club was one of my favorite parts because their friendship brought so much heart into an otherwise terrifying story.
