Avis

This book was a very slow start with a slow pace to the whole book. I felt that it was written almost poetically and if I didn’t know what the main trope was before picking up this book, o never would have guessed it was a single dad x nanny book until at least 10% in. This one had some spice hit at about 60% which is when the story started to pick up in the romance side of it. The spice didn’t progress for a while but once it did I felt that there were multiple scenes in a row just for the sake of having spice and we didn’t get much plot for about 10% of the book and then it went back to the story. The plot was slow but very dramatic with the key events but also with some of the small details. There was some character development in this book, but like the timeline, it felt very disjointed and somewhat unrealistic in a way that made me lose some of the enjoyment of this book. There were multiple times where the timeline contradicted itself in this book where some things were a few weeks later in one chapter and the next it was actually only one week. There were some fast paced elements like how fast the MCs settled u to living together but this felt like it didn’t fit with the slow paced nature of the plot.I did finish the book annoyed because I realised that the FMC did not once say “I love you” back to the MMC. I know words are not always needed when actions can speak louder however I felt like the MMC really needed to have it verbalised based on his character traits and life experiences so this ruined the ending for me. However, I did really enjoy some parts of this book like the effort put into developing a relationship with the kids and watching them blossom under the care of the MCs. While it was not my favourite book, I felt this book was ok and I would m recommend it if you enjoy a very slow burn, enjoy spice and don’t mind flawed characters with a sub plot of self discovery. If that’s your jam then you may really enjoy this book.
