Description

In the aftermath of the battle for Trost, the fight for humanity's survival continues to escalate. Eren, who has proven to be more than just an ordinary soldier, grapples with the heavy burden of his newfound abilities as a Titan shifter. This revelation not only empowers him but also casts a shadow of uncertainty and fear among his comrades, who are still trying to comprehend the implications of his transformation.

As the soldiers regroup and strategize for future confrontations, they confront their own personal demons and the harsh realities of living in constant fear of the Titans. The camaraderie that has formed among them is tested as secrets unravel and loyalties shift, challenging their resolve like never before. The struggle to reclaim their world from the invaders becomes a mental battle as much as it is a physical one.

Shifting perspectives, the narrative delves into the motivations and backgrounds of various characters, enriching the already complex world that Hajime Isayama has crafted. Friendships are forged in the fires of adversity, while others crumble under the weight of sacrifice and survivor's guilt. Tension mounts as shadows of betrayal loom, leaving both characters and readers to wonder who can truly be trusted in their perilous quest.

The stakes rise sharply, and the relentless nature of their oppressive reality is palpably felt. With each page, the question emerges again—can they really reclaim their home, or is hope an illusion in a world dominated by Titans? As alliances are tested and conflicts arise, the relentless march of the Titans serves as a constant reminder of the fragility of life and the enduring spirit of those who dare to fight back.

★★★★½

This volume was actually insane.

The Female Titan showing up changed EVERYTHING because suddenly we're dealing with something that clearly isn't just a mindless Titan wandering around eating people.

And the way she moves??? Absolutely terrifying.

I also really liked seeing the Survey Corps actually operate outside the walls. Levi's squad immediately made me care about characters I barely knew, which obviously means I was emotionally preparing myself for disaster without even realizing it.

Erwin is also starting to become one of my favorite characters because this man is WAY too calm about everything.

The whole expedition had this feeling of "something is horribly wrong" from the beginning.

And unfortunately... I was right.
