Ash Dust, a dedicated atheist and sergeant of the NYPD, is called upon to shed light on what appears to be the imminent arrival of the Antichrist on Earth. According to Dr. Gwen Galloway, a scholar at New York University, the book may indeed be an apocryphal gospel, containing not only a description of the three days of Jesus Christ's life leading up to his resurrection but also the final key to the impending end of the world. However, when Ash finds himself confronting infernal beings, his conviction that he lives in a universe governed solely by the laws of physics dangerously wavers. Forces defying reason seek to reclaim the cursed book, and Ash is the only one capable of translating it. Meanwhile, the approach of New Year's Eve may coincide with a catastrophic event.
