A new private eye (Bentley Gray) from Bakersfield approaches Matt with a paying proposition. He'll send one of his sons to train with Cooper investigations while Nick goes to the Bakersfield agency to help train the man's sons. There are five P.I.s working out of the Bakersfield office, all with the last name of Gray. They call their business "Five Shades of Gray." Brad Gray spends a week with Matt and Veronica, while Nick spends that same week training Bentley Gray, his sons, Chad and Woody, as well as Gray's nephew, Lonnie Gray. One of the Grays will not fare so well through all of this.
