Description

In a chilling blend of horror and desire, a group of friends finds themselves ensnared in a sinister plot woven by the infamous Dracula. As the story unfolds, Jonathan Harker's journey intertwines with that of his companions, each grappling with their own fears and temptations while they confront the darkness that lurks just beyond the veil of the night.

Scarlett Parrish’s annotations breathe new life into Bram Stoker’s classic, offering readers a fresh perspective on the timeless tale. The additional insights enhance the original narrative, providing context and depth, and revealing the complexities of the characters' motivations and fears.

Throughout the book, tension runs high as the line between passion and peril blurs. With every page turned, the friends must face their inner demons and the lurking evil that binds them together—pushing the boundaries of loyalty, survival, and the very essence of humanity.

Dracula remains, today, a cornerstone of gothic-horror literature. Bram Stoker successfully created a novel that invokes as much a physical horror as a psychological one.

The most successful element, in my view, of this novel is the atmosphere. It dark, eerie and fully realised in all locations in which we are taken to. The opening section at Dracula's Castle was sublime, a masterclass in introducing a character and his machinations.

Whilst it does slow in the early-middle section of the Novel, its not enough to detract from what is, otherwise, a masterpiece of world building and storytelling.
