Description

Vernon Deyre is a sensitive and brilliant musician, even a genius. But there is a high price to be paid for his talent, especially by his family and the two women in his life. His sheltered childhood in the home he loves has not prepared Vernon for the harsh reality of his adult years, and in order to write the great masterpiece of his life, he has to make a crucial decision with no time left to count the cost…

What a mess—drama from page one! In this book, Vernon Deyre's life is divided into "books", each named after someone significant during that specific period of his life. There is so much going on, with twists and turns that feel quite melodramatic. I have to admit, I liked this installment better. It was tedious to read at times since it felt like the book would never end, but I’m glad it finally did. The characters are lovable overall, although I feel sorry for Jane and have a strong dislike for Nell; I've disliked her since she first appeared, and I was right to feel that way. Poor Vernon... What I appreciate most is that we get a peek into everyone's life, not just Vernon's. We see them from both the outside and Vernon's point of view. Given everything that happened, I think it was a good ending.
