Description

A debut novel that's as sharp as a knife's point. Plain Kate lives in a world of superstitions and curses, where a song can heal a wound and a shadow can work deep magic. As the wood-carver's daughter, Kate held a carving knife before a spoon, and her wooden charms are so fine that some even call her "witch-blade" -- a dangerous nickname in a town where witches are hunted and burned in the square.

The ending had me crying real tears; even when I believed it wouldn’t pull it out of me. I felt rage and disgust and betrayal through the characters and the ending was in such a way that curbed all expectations. It was a tragedy, simply put. And as a tragedy, it ended with hope. The story was fantastic, and the premise was excellent, I couldn’t have asked for more. I would like to set aside time to mourn the loss of Bow’s sister. ‘May their graves be marked’, as one would say. May her grave be marked and may she rest easy.
