In Law Of The Desert, Shad Monroe was on the opposing side to Clyde Bowman in a vicious range war in the Puerto de Luna country. Now Clyde Bowman has been elected sheriff, spelling trouble for Shad. He would leave the country, but Madge, his only remaining friend, isn't willing to leave. Nat Bodine, in Desert Death Song, is accused of having robbed a stage and wounding the sheriff in a gun battle. He is pursued by a posse into the desert, but everything is not what it seems. Showdown On The Hogback finds Tom Kedrick hired to run off a gang of vagrants and outlaws who are occupying a strip of land claimed to be unusable swamp. These "vagrants and outlaws" turn out to be hard-working ranchers and farmers who have improved the lands and don't want to leave.
