Description

Set against the backdrop of ancient Greece, this translation of Homer’s epic saga unfolds the timeless journey of Odysseus as he strives to return home after the Trojan War. George Chapman, an influential playwright and poet in his own right, breathes new life into this classic tale, capturing the intricate weave of heroism, temptation, and the quest for identity. The journey is fraught with encounters that test Odysseus's resolve, from the allure of the Sirens to the wrath of vengeful gods.

Chapman's rendition preserves the original's grandeur while offering a distinctive lens through which readers can appreciate the trials faced by the legendary hero. His eloquent language and powerful imagery invite readers into a world where the stakes are high and adventures abound. Each page echoes with the intensity of life and death, ensuring that the age-old narrative remains as gripping today as it was in antiquity.

J'ai beaucoup apprécié découvrir ce grand classique de la littérature

I swear The Odyssey consistently took ages longer to get to the point and once I reached the finale the amount of repeating of the earlier events was frustrating. Not to mention the audiobook version I own has the worst discordant chapter break that was painfully loud and basically completely heinous. Odysseus's epic struggle to return home was engaging though... when I got to listen to it.
