This book started with an intro of all the characters, we learn some interesting facts about each of them. Shortly after that we learn about Cosimo's rebellion. He refused to eat the snails his sister cooked.. (his sister loved cooking weird foods). Cosimo was 12 and his father told him to leave if he refused to eat. Cosimo did leave but he left to live in the trees. His family was certain that he would get bored or tired of rebelling and come back home, but that was never the case, Cosimo stayed in the trees from age 12-65 (when he died of old age). Cosimo grew fond of nature, whether it be the trees or animals around. He was in nature at all times after all. This book was written in the little brother's pov. None of it was told from personal experience. I feel like the book would be more interesting if it were! We get a glimpse of the little brother (Biago's)life every here and there since he is the narrator. We are told of Cosimos different adventures in the trees, his conversations, his love affairs and his companions. I found it amusing how Cosimo never once set foot on earth after climbing up the trees at age 12. He was always up in the trees moving from one tree to another, he ate there, slept there, bathed there etc. His family seeing he wasn't coming down would help him every now and then, any way they could, they didn't approve of him being up there but they grew accustomed to it. Cosimo had one main love affair, her name was Viola, she was the first person he spoke to when he first went on the trees, he spoke to her occasionally until she had to move for school. When she returned they reunited but their love did not last. Things were complicated. I enjoyed the events of this book, learning how Cosimo lived on the trees and how he handled different things.
