Paris for One and other stories by JoJo Moyes is a collection of 11 short stories all at varied lengths. Each of these stories drops you into the day to day lives of strong women. Throughout the entirety of the book, we see all of the characters undergo moments of gumption. This book prioritises women being the hero's of their own lives, breaking the chain, and blooming into the greatest versions of themselves. Paris for one:One of the lengthier short stories in which we see Nell the heroine, arrive in Paris for the first time, alone. From what began as a trip brimming with nightmares, Nell longs to go home. But, why would you want to go home when your in Paris? Nell opens her eyes in the city of lights and finds a version of herself she never knew was hidden within her. Honey Moon in Paris: 2002 - Liv newly wed in Paris.1912 - Sophie newly wed in Paris.Despite being many years apart, the universe seems to connect these two woman. Both new to married life, there are stormy waters to overcome. With brush strokes that reveal answers, the clouds part and sun begins to shine in both 2002, and 1912. Both Paris for One and Honey Moon in Paris, are the two longest short stories. I found Honey Moon in Paris to be cleverly written, as the narrative bounced between 2002 and 1912, as the stories of two women progressed beside each other. Paris for one was a personal favourite of mine as Nell starts off as a closed flower, and by the end of her story she blooms into a powerful woman. All of the stories hold the same foundation, though the subject matter changes. I have read other short stories and collections before where sometimes they simply end as they become interesting, though I enjoyed each of these stories and found myself content with the endings and overall flow. These stories by Moyes, I found to be enlightening and heartwarming reads that I could go away and come back too, knowing where I left off. I recommend this book to those who are looking for tales about inspiring women, gumption, heartwarming moments, and in some stories a touch of Paris.
