Samael's cult has always been around. It's one of those groups that hides in the fringes of civilization, just beyond the light, the edge of the campfire maybe, waiting for the right time to show itself to the world. Samael could choose any time and any place to introduce his brand of demonic evil to the world, but he has a soft spot for all things big and terrible to start with a whimper. Hayden, Colorado is as small as any town could get, and in October—so close to the weakening of the veil between the living and the dead, it just makes so much sense for him to start this year's celebration a bit early. Some psychotic murder here, the raising of the undead there, and he has successfully created a ground zero for the world's last cataclysm. Demon overlord status achieved.

Problem for Samael is there's this guy from Hayden, Colorado—his name's Jimmy. And he's just coming back from the war, a little messed up, pissed off, and maladjusted. So when he finds his hometown under Samael's demonic possession, Jimmy decides to handle this problem the same way he's been handling all his problems for the last couple of years. With some whiskey and a shotgun. Though all his family and most of his friends are dead that's not going to get this soldier down. He's going to make things right, by God. And speaking of God—Jimmy's got a problem with Him too. But first things first.
