Took me awhile to get into it, I'm pretty sure it was a me problem, but once I was able to sit and really focus I really enjoyed my time! Parts felt rushed but overall I think it was so fun

And the ideal place to read this probably would not be at a beach either.🫰Gus and January and their relationship, obviously.👍Emily Henry's writing, prose and pacing are good as usual.👌Was expecting a cute romcom, not a devastating depiction of grief to shatter my heart -- in a good way.👌Side note: I don't like the US version ending. I read the UK version though, so it's okay.👎Their books had me confused because it was additional characters that I couldn't bother remembering.👎While I loved Gus and January, I cared less about the other characters like Maggie or Pete or even her mum. Plus, I wanted more information on Naomi and on her dad as well. And I do like Anya and Shadi, but they're hardly mentioned enough.
I am not sure if Romance genre isn't for me or Emily Henry isn't.I have been a fantasy girly through and through for years. I heard the glowing reviews that come from Emily Henry and decided to try a couple books. I have yet to read book lovers.There was nothing inherently wrong with this book. The start dragged a bit with flashbacks. I didnt care about that and was bored and almost DNF'd. I finally got to some decent plot. It was a fast easy read after that. But a month later I can barely remember anything. Generic romance between 2 authors? I think "romance" as a plot line just doesn't interest me at all. I like fantasy with a romance sub-plot or even some Mafia Books but romance still isn't the main plot line.I will try Book Lovers before I give up on this.3.5 Stars
Gostei da história, o Gus enigmático, muito emocionado, de fato ele é muito emocionado, mas compreendo que ele está tentando ser uma pessoa melhor a cada dia, que está na terapia foi uma boa para ele, mas embora eu goste da história, eu não gosto tanto. Acho que ambos possuem problemas demais que faz a história ter uma carga emocional muito grande para a ambientação feliz que o verão, e um contraste que não me agrada tanto, talvez seja pelo momento que estou vivendo, mas sinto que se tivesse pontos alternados de vista seria melhor, porque ver os problemas dele apenas na perspectiva dela é chato. Às vezes achei repetitivo demais ficar focado apenas nas questões dela com o pai, entendo que ele era importante pra ela, mas às vezes me senti cansada durante a leitura.
la relación de January y su papá se sintió como un reflejo muy cruel de la que tengo con el mío, que también murió hace unos meses. aunque amé a Gus y no entendía sus problemas de comunicación, fue la relación con su papá lo que más me impactó. en todo caso, fue una buena lectura.
Okay, I'm not a EmHen super fan by any means. I've found most of her books to be very average. But "Beach Read?" Loved it. Impeccably paced with flawed characters who are perfect for each other if they can get through their own shit.
I enjoyed this book, I have to be honest and say it wasn’t that much into the book, it took me a long time to finish it. But I liked the story, the characters, they were complex but very honest, I loved January, her mild disbelief in love after what happened when she found out about her father. And I loved Gus, his complete disbelief in love for his whole life. I like that they found and made each other better, they were able to trust each other. College rival then neighbor, that was a great idea, I loved Gus’ personality, I think I thought this was going to be a rom-com but it isn’t like that, maybe that’s what I missed the most.
I loved this book. It was definitely better than People We Meet on Vacation.I loved the premise and relationship between January and Gus. Also I loved Pete and Shadi.

Easily my favorite Emily Henry. Most of her books jump through time which is fine, but isn't my favorite outline. I liked that this one only did so by bringing pieces of the past to the present through conversations and personal items. And I'm always a fan of proving yet again how important perspective and intent is. The way you perceive someone might be completely different than the intent they have and without talking about it, you would never know.

Me decidí a leerlo por sus buenas críticas y la verdad me siento dividida. Creo que es un libro ligero y fácil de leer ahora que estamos en pleno verano. Trata temas que te revuelven los sentimientos y te hace reflexionar. Sin embargo, si esperas una historia de amor, no vas a encontrarla del todo. Tiene su drama y tiene sus escenas románticas. Pero lo que a mí no me ha convencido ha sido tanto tira y afloja, ahora sí pero no, me desaparezco y vuelvo en vez de hablarlo desde el principio... Creo que esos momentos han sido de relleno, además de no parar de darle la vuelta una y otra vez a los mismos temas, y eso ha hecho que llegando al final ya estuviera cansada a pesar de engancharme en ciertos momentos.
This is my second Emily Henry book and so far, she has not disappointed!! Things I loved: -This trope - they weren't entirely enemies to lovers but pretty close, maybe even closer to like second chance romance. -The bet between them - really wish those books were really out there-The banter between January and Gus. Love a romance that can also make me laugh!I really love Emily Henry's writing. I love how she really describes the characters and the setting without being boring and droning on. I actually love her development of side characters as well. A lot of romance novels only focus on the romance but having such great side characters made this book even more enjoyable.What I really enjoyed in this book was that there was more to the story than just the romance. Both January and Gus are going through a tough time and are navigating some deeper emotions. As some have said, this book delves into some difficult topics but still has and overall light feel about it. It felt like this was a story about January, learning about Gus and then their relationship. As I read it, I felt like I was seeing the story play out like a movie in my head.Would definitely recommend and can't wait to read more of Emily Henry!
This book was a ton of fun to read but for a book whose trope was supposed enemies to lovers there was very little enemies and that disappeared quite quick... but I enjoy a fun book and this was definitely that
