Visualizza tutto3.5 starsIt was a pretty good book but I took a long break in the middle and it lost the impact. Not the strongest flow of plot but I like where the series is building to and I liked the arc for Mische and Asar - so much more depth that Rhain and Oraya. I also really enjoyed seeing all the previous characters again, even from the short stories - may have been my favorite part of the book by a long shot. While I appreciate Mische finding her home in the house of death as a Queen after her tumultuous journey to finding a home in her chosen family and location, I don't understand why she needed to become divine, I think this book was built really well to have a devastating end with one or both characters dying - either at the end of the book or series. It feels like there's no stakes for the main characters - Mische literally came back from death twice! (More if you count near deaths).
Through the path to immortality, one finds its morality. Life and death and godhood have a strong presence in this world, and they come colliding together into a beautiful resolution of hearts. Finding your place requires searching and sacrifices, but none of that compares to the resolve from rising from your grief and gaining the strength to be yourself. I laughed, cried, highlighted the heck out of these pages as the words were seared into my heart.
