Castle Howard York

Castle Howard 3rd Earl of Carlisle asked the playwright John Vanburgh to build him a new house in 1699.

The astonishing collaboration that followed produced one of England's grandest stately houses. Renowned for its architecture, rich collections and sublime landscaping, Castle Howard is still home to the Howard family.
