Collapse Day

A quarter of a century ago, Patrick Sinclair fought the undead. Now, he has to fight his own anger. The zombie hordes were destroyed . . . but now, the real sacrifices Sinclair and his comrades made are being cheapened by sentimental nonsense and elaborate ceremonies. And the people who really sacrificed are not truly being honored. And maybe . . . just maybe . . . the dead will rise again tonight. This 8,000+ word short story is a social satire of the POST-post-zombie apocalypse by Eric Cline, whose work has appeared in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine, Stupefying Stories, and other magazines and anthologies.
