I'd come into this expecting it to follow the prior High Republic books I'd read. This actually takes place 100- 200 years before them. Which takes place 100-200 years before the general Canon of Star Wars (The Skywalker Saga itself). I loved the arranged marriage, and how we saw the heirs - Xiri and Phan-Tu fall for one another up until the love confession from Phan-tu at the end.Also was intrigued by Axel and Gella's little… romance? If it could be called that. The mutual attraction, mayhaps. Hate that he was way too far gone to pull back. And i am almost certain that in the next(?) book that Axel will come down on Gella for… leaving him behind (from his perspective). Because he was hurt and felt maligned. Really, really good! And still technically within the 'High Republic' period, so fits in with the series.P.s Gella having twin purple 'sabers? Oof, I love it. A mix of Mace and Ahsoka 👀
