Descrizione

Set against the backdrop of a small town in Maine, this gripping tale centers around a seemingly ordinary St. Bernard named Cujo. Living with the Cambers family on their farm, Cujo is a beloved pet who enjoys the simple pleasures of life. However, as the story unfolds, an unfortunate incident transforms this gentle giant into a creature of horror.

The narrative delves into the lives of the Cambers, revealing their struggles and interpersonal dynamics. Their serene existence is disrupted by a series of events that lead to Cujo's tragic transformation. As the fear escalates, the town's awareness of the impending danger grows, constructing an atmosphere thick with tension and dread.

With masterful storytelling, the author navigates themes of fear, tragedy, and the unpredictable nature of life itself. As the characters confront their worst nightmares, the tale captures the raw emotion and chaos that ensue when familiarity turns into terror. It’s a haunting exploration of how quickly life can spiral out of control and the devastating consequences that follow.

I expected this to be scarier. Not that it was *bad* in any way, but it was not at all what I had been expecting when I picked it up. Instead of giving me nightmares, it just made me sad. Easily the most realistic Stephen King book I've ever read, though I'm disinclined to believe that is an entirely positive statement.
