I understand why the book is considered the weakest in the trilogy and that for some readers this war campaign can be tiring on so many pages. On the other hand, it cannot be completely compared to the first book which was written in different style (1 POV). If compared to the second book, then I think it is just as good. What bothered me is that thanks to the first book I consider Vaelin to be the main character. Even though there are 4 main characters since the book II, Vaelin is still the most important for me and that is why I want more of his story than the others (excpet Frentis). He travels a lot and continues to reveal the mystery about the identity of the Ally. I was a little hoping and expecting his Song to return because since he lost is he is kind of "normal" and the hero is just in the past legend. Yeah he still is a good warrior and kind and we see him struggle which is good. But you know what I mean, right? The next thing I was waiting for was "and the seed takes over" with Frentis. Fortunately, at least I got it with him and he kind of replaced Vaelin in some battles. Both are great characters for me.As for the spporting characters, I will mainly single out Darhena and Illian. Of the male characters, Shield and Nortah.  Well then we have here also the main female characters. I prefer Reva, but I was still glad that she didn't have that much space in this book, at least in my opinion. And Lyrna... It's difficult with her. At least she's an interesting character and the reader can't be sure what's going on with her. Would she turned into something too evil or not. And she's one of the main characters that I didn't like from the beginning of the series (although it got better in the second part). I didn't care about her at all in this book.
