Life passes no matter what. That's the lesson I took from this book. Ivan Ilych spends his life chasing more and more goals, living according to what society expects of him. In the end, he realizes how alone he is.He runs away from his family in pursuit of more money and higher status, so when he realizes he didn't live his life "the right way," it's really sad."Death is finished."
