Descrizione

Few people spend their retirement cycling around the world, but Rod Ellis has done just that. In 2010 he he discovered that decades of long-distance running had destroyed most of the cartilage in his left knee. At the age of 63, and after knee replacement surgery, he hopped on a bicycle instead. Over the next nine years he cycled 33,000km through 14 countries, pretty impressive for someone whose knee continues to cause him a fair amount of grief. This book chronicles his experiences on the road in Alaska, Australia, Cambodia, Canada, Cuba, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, USA, and Vietnam. His journey included being hit by two cars and a motorbike in three separate accidents in Thailand. Follow his adventures on the road and learn about the people he met along the way, like the bemused Indian barber who asked, "Did you not know there are trains and buses?"
