Double Top: The Original Screenplay

Set in the cutthroat world of amateur pub darts, Double Top is a light hearted homage to the underdog sports movies of the 80’s.

Ricky and Tony are a couple of cocky, fun loving darts hustlers living and drinking in the Welsh valleys. Along with Ricky’s girlfriend Sandra, they spend their time conning gullible youths out of their precious beer money. However their world is rocked when Ricky misses a crucial shot in the local pub tournament final, allowing bitter rival Steve to take the title.

Suffering a crisis of confidence, Ricky withdraws from the darts scene altogether, throwing himself into a career at a high powered accountancy firm as his relationship with Sandra slowly deteriorates into a stale, sexless affair.

When the tournament rolls around again, it falls to Tony to defeat reigning champ Steve, however after a tragic accident befalls he is left unable to compete. With little time to spare before the opening round, Tony must persuade his old partner to take to the oche once more. But will Ricky rise to the challenge and become a hero, or will he follow his career and fade into obscurity?
