Robin Sharma’s books seem to exist in almost every desi household, so I eventually had to see what the hype was about. And honestly, some of the self-help advice is decent enough: self-discipline, setting clear goals, leadership, the usual basics. Nothing ground-breaking, but not terrible either. My main issue with the book is that its entire premise feels fundamentally dishonest. While there may well have been a billionaire heir who abandoned his fortune to become a monk, that person clearly only served as loose inspiration. The story of the lawyer presented here is essentially fictional. What  was far more annoying was how India is portrayed as this mystical, exotic land hiding secret wisdom about spirituality and enlightenment. In the end, the best thing about the book is probably its title. But considering how manufactured the whole premise feels, “The Lawyer Turned Self-Help Grifter” is probably more accurate, even if it’s less catchy.

HORRIBLE! I couldn't manage to finish this book. I only read a 31%. It makes me feel bad not finishing a book but I just couldn't.
