absolutely devoured this book the dynamic between the 2 characters was so Intriguing to me.
I can see why so many people like these books. The author did a remarkable job writing believable, complex characters with real flaws (despite the title) and a realistic portrayal of growth. I loved seeing the emotional vulnerability of both characters as they grew closer and dealt with different family dynamics. The boyish vulnerability and insecurities we see in Rhett’s POV, combined with his rugged exterior and country boy manners, was swoon-worthy. Some of the language and inner thoughts were a little crude for my taste and I enjoyed the first half much more than the second half when the steamy bits tried to take over, but overall I really enjoyed watching both characters’ journeys as they navigated their personal desires vs their professional responsibilities and what it meant to support each other.
This book took a while to win me over — like, around the 60% mark, I’d say. And it’s not one of those stories I fell head over heels for or anything, but it was good. What really bugged me at first were Rhett’s mannerisms; he acted like a pubescent teenager half the time. Honestly, there were several moments where his behavior just didn’t match his age, and that threw me off a lot. But eventually I started to like him and kinda let it slide. I also really liked the side characters and the overall vibe of the book.
⤿ Reading period: July 20 - July 22, 2025⤿ Rating: ★★★★☆I absolutely adored the evolution of their relationship throughout the story. Initially, it started off with a playful animosity, but then Summer turned the tables and made Rhett truly earn her attention. I found myself laughing out loud as he literally crawled on his knees to win her over. The dynamic between them was delightful, with Rhett embodying the sunny disposition while Summer played the role of the lovable grump. One of the most charming moments was when Summer placed a Bratz bandage on his cheek, and he wore it for nearly a week, showcasing his endearing commitment. I can’t help but wonder where I can find a guy like him! Overall, I’m thrilled to give this book a solid four stars. To my surprise, I ended up loving this book far more than I anticipated. It marked my first foray into this genre, and I genuinely regret not diving into it sooner. If you’re looking for a quick read that features an original storyline and characters who are wonderfully complex, this book is an excellent choice. While I found the first hundred pages a bit slow, it was understandable as the plot needed time to build. However, once I reached page 101, the narrative took off in an exhilarating direction that kept me hooked. The highlight for me was undoubtedly the love story between Summer and Rhett. Their journey from enemies to lovers was beautifully crafted. At the outset, Summer had a secret crush on Rhett, but he was oblivious to her existence. Their first encounter was far from perfect, yet Rhett quickly recognized that Summer was not just another fan; she was a fierce and determined woman. With a little help from Kip, their paths crossed, and from that moment on, they were inseparable. The chemistry between them was palpable, making their story all the more captivating.Their initial encounter may not have been the most memorable, but Rhett quickly realized that Summer was far from the typical girl his fans adored. Instead, she was a courageous and fiercely determined woman. With Kip’s assistance, they crossed paths, and from that moment on, they became inseparable. Initially, their relationship was rooted in professional obligations, but it soon became clear that their connection was driven by genuine desire rather than necessity. In no time, their friendship blossomed into something deeper, and they became a duo that was rarely seen apart; wherever one went, the other followed.➸ Summer:I have a deep affection for her character, primarily due to her remarkable growth. Summer has always been courageous and resolute, but it was through her relationships with Rhett and her father, Kip, that she discovered vital truths about herself. The most significant realization was that she didn’t have to conform to others’ expectations; instead, she needed to pursue her own desires. This revelation led to her struggles, especially after losing her job, as she grappled with understanding what truly made her happy. Summer embodies altruism, often prioritizing the needs of her loved ones over her own. However, with Rhett’s influence, she learned the importance of self-care alongside caring for others, revealing her complex nature—strong yet fragile.➸ Rhett:➵“Princess, you look like you were made for me.”“I feel like I was made for you.”Initially, Rhett came off as overly confident, but he gradually evolved, particularly in his interactions with Summer. I found him endearing as he transformed into a genuine, caring individual. At first, his treatment of Summer left much to be desired, but as he got to know her better, his demeanor softened, and I began to appreciate him more. He truly exemplifies the “golden boy” archetype, showing genuine concern for Summer and speaking about her with admiration. However, I must admit, while I enjoyed his character, I believe he would benefit from a haircut—long hair just doesn’t suit him!One of the most poignant moments in their love story occurred when Summer instinctively recognized that Rhett was struggling, simply by looking into his eyes. Despite his reluctance to accept help, Summer was unwavering in her determination to support him. This pivotal moment served as a catalyst for their relationship, marking a significant shift that brought them closer together. It was a testament to the depth of their bond, illustrating how love can flourish even in the face of adversity.Another aspect of the story that captivated me was the dynamic between Rhett and his brother Jasper. The Eaton brothers, despite their challenging past marked by the absence of their mother, demonstrated remarkable resilience. They leaned on each other for strength, gradually coming to terms with their loss. Although I have only read one book so far, I find myself deeply invested in their journeys and eager to learn more about each of them. Among the brothers, Cade stood out to me the most, particularly due to his heartfelt conversation with Rhett when he was contemplating leaving Summer, believing he was unworthy of her love. Cade embodies the role of the protective older brother, someone who is not only clear about his own aspirations but also possesses a big heart, always prioritizing the well-being of his siblings and willing to go to great lengths for them.────୨ৎ────⤷ Thank you for reaching to this point here and I’m really glad and thankful for you, love you ⟡.
Ahhh I really like this series, I don't know why but I didn't read them in order. I some how came across powerless I think it was and read that first and then the others in some random order and ended up reading this one last but I think they were all brilliant, I love this series so much and I'm sad to see it end. The character development is good, I'm not annoyed by the Forbidden romance like I can be in some books. It truly was a wonderful read. 100% recommend.

rhett. F*CKIN' RHETT. okay, for starters, i'm so upset it took me this long to start this series because now i'm completely hooked. i read the last like 350 pages in one sitting because i just couldn't put my kindle down. i love rhett so much & can't wait to meet everyone else in their own books. i'm especially excited for cade's book because luke??? adorable. i loved the added plot of summer's past with rob. i think we're all in agreement that rob sucks. i really hope that summer & winter can work things out but i do understand winter needing space. i really really love rhett. when he moved her so that he was on the traffic side while walking... that's when i fell in love because my boyfriend does that constantly. i'm never allowed to walk on the side that cars are even in parking lots. i don't know if any of the other mmc's will top rhett but i'm excited to find out. 😏
