Set against the backdrop of a kingdom ravaged by uncertainty and betrayal, a young prince grapples with profound grief and a thirst for revenge. Haunted by the suspicious death of his father, Hamlet navigates a treacherous landscape filled with deceit, madness, and moral quandaries. His complex interactions with characters like his scheming uncle, the fragile Ophelia, and the loyal Horatio shed light on a world where appearances often mask grim realities. Shakespeare’s exploration of destiny, action, and the human psyche resonates deeply, elevating this work from mere story to timeless reflection on the nature of existence.

As he wrestles with his own conscience, Hamlet embodies the struggle between thought and action, a theme that resonates throughout the ages. Hamlet may very well be regarded as one of the greatest tragedies ever written. However I found it rather dull, certainly in Act I and Act II. It does pick up from Act III onwards and at that point I began to enjoy reading it.

It, being my first time reading the Play, was quite difficult to follow but I'm sure subsequent rereads will open up the language to me and I may then see fit to increase my rating.

They are so long-winded my god. Try and place a word in I dare you. Not my favourite Shakespeare.
