And one of them was a Southern accent! I loved the sexual tension between Enzo and Venessa. They remained strong for so long. Until Aria went too far.I really love this series so much and if it continues, I can't wait to see what story will be next. Peter Pan, Lion King, Aladdin, Wizard of Oz, Hunchback of Notre Dame, and now The Little Mermaid. Each story with it's own twist to the tale to make it work for the real world in ways that make sense.Something minor that I thought about while reading this, there is a moment when Venessa meets a woman named Jenny and, whether she was being sarcastic or just picking fun, she asks if Jenny had said Jessica when she introduced herself. Jenny said no and Venessa responded by saying she had never met a Jessica she had liked. And not long after meets Enzo's secretary, Jessica, who clearly wants Enzo, to the point she actually thinks he will take her side when she faces off with Venessa after she and Enzo are finally able to be together. It's from Enzo's POV both times and I found it kind of amusing that what Venessa said still held true. She still hadn't met a Jessica she liked. It was a fun touch.I kind of feel sorry for Fisher, who was Flounder in this book with his blond hair and later blue-dyed mohawk. He got played so bad by a woman he had been desperately in love with. To the point that he allowed her to use him to get back with Enzo, hardly reacting when she made her delusions clear to Venessa. All because he took Trent and Aria at their word. Poor guy never stood a chance against Aria, not with his lingering feelings from before she skipped town. When I read the blurb, I had been wondering how they were going to play this off and still end well. While Enzo did cheat a bit, emotionally throughout the book [though he and Aria were marrying for business] then physically [kind of] right before Enzo learns the truth. But I was not looking forward to the moment he found out about the death that happened in the prologue. I realized who he was the moment Venessa started worrying when she went to see Enzo. And I hate being right.Just as I had feared, someone else beat Venessa to the punch and revealed the truth, causing the conflict that always tends to happen in romance books [I have read very few that didn't have a fight, a breaking of trust, or something of the sort but I have read them], leading to them being separated and allowing their enemies to come out of hiding to reveal themselves. But the ending was oh-so satisfying. But I kind of wish there had been more at the end for Aria rather than what we got, which felt kind of rushed when I listened. And didn't make sense with how Enzo was unless Aria was smarter than I gave her credit for. Nothing there was confirmed or anything. It just ended. But oh well, can't have everything. All in all, I really enjoyed this book and I hope another comes out to give me a good excuse to read this series again. Though I'll likely come back to read again sooner or later anyway. But, now I get to decide what book to listen to next. And if I will pick up reading a book [not audiobook] when I'm home [I listen to audio at work and sometimes read books at home, usually ones that don't have an audiobook].
