Descrizione

In the heart of the Midwest, Jane Doe navigates the mundane routine of her job at an insurance company, but beneath her composed exterior lies a turbulent secret. By day, she embodies the image of a diligent employee, but as night falls, the truth of her existence unveils itself—she is driven by a singular, consuming purpose: revenge.

Straddling the line between ordinary and extraordinary, Jane reveals the complexities of a character torn between her professional facade and her darker intentions. The everyday interactions with her colleagues mask the simmering fury that propels her actions. Each mundane task becomes a calculated step towards a reckoning she has meticulously crafted.

The narrative unfolds with an intensity that grips the reader, blending tension and intrigue. Jane's journey is not just about reclaiming what was lost; it’s also an exploration of identity, morality, and the lengths one will go to achieve a resolution. With every twist and turn, the stakes escalate, leading to questions of loyalty and the cost of vengeance.

Through richly drawn characters and a compelling plot, the story invites readers to ponder the duality of human nature and the often blurred lines between right and wrong. As Jane races towards her ultimate confrontation, the reader is left wondering what sacrifices are necessary for redemption and whether revenge is ever truly satisfying.

Full review (spoilers included) here: https://printedvintage.home.blog/2019/02/10/jane-doe-victoria-helen-stone/Mystery? Not really. Thriller? Yes. Psychological? I'd say that "cat-and-mouse" was an appropriate term to describe this novel. I'm new to this author and I wasn't disappointed, I'll read more. It's exactly what I want from a psychological thriller. Let's start with the length. Jane Doe is about 260 pages and the author doesn't wast them. She jumps right in and lets organically lets the reader in on what happened before page on through Jane's thoughts and plans. The chapters are short, perfect for a novel both of this length and subject. I can't even find fault with the writing. That sounds like I want to, but the way Jane spoke when around Steven and his family was rather juvenile for a 30 year old and it annoyed me. She was playing a part though, acting how he wanted and expected a woman to act so it was intentional and necessary.I would have given this 5 stars if I had stopped reading half way through Chapter 48 and left those last pages unfinished. They really were enough to ruin the ending for me. When an ending is disappointing, well it's the feeling you're left with and it taints the overall experience, no matter how much you may have enjoyed the rest.
