REVIEW & MORE → Map of the HardbacksThe fact Chain of Gold features my absolute favorite characters from The Infernal Devices is the main reason why I personally enjoyed the start to the new series/trilogy. Seeing all of my beloved favorites together again; especially seeing Will again made me burst into tears before I even got to page 100. All of the characters from The Infernal Devices have a very special place in my heart for a reason, so when the news about this new series/trilogy came out, I was over the moon. Just meeting the children of Tessa and Will was fun and a little nostalgic all at once.When it comes to Cassandra Clare’s novels, I easily fall in love with many characters. It’s just hard for myself to not like any of the characters when I love the previous series (not including The Mortal Instruments). Of course, for The Dark Artifices, I loved many characters in that trilogy, however, the start of this new series/trilogy just kicked all of her other characters out of their spots and took its rightful spot at the top of the list.Despite my undying love for the era this new series/trilogy takes place and its characters, there are somethings that found a little annoying or confusing. The main thing being the amount of POVs Cassandra Clare includes in each of her books. One or two POVs are fine at the beginning of a book series, but as the specific series reaches its end or has so many books out at this point, it gets all jumbled most of the time. Personally, I love seeing what most of the characters are up to when the main character is off doing another thing, but at the same time, I find myself going back to the chapter that is about the main character just to refresh my memory before continuing on with the story.Overall, my excitement for the next installment in this series/trilogy is high. I can’t believe I have to wait another full year or two until I get the answers to my many questions directed at the ending of Chain of Gold.
