Millicent Carlisle

Millicent Carlisle is a literary fiction based on the biography of a thirteen-year-old child bride living in Southwest America. In the novel, Millicent is a Calvinist Baptist who experiences marital discord, racism, a shift from homemaker to automobile factory worker, and community ostracism after having an affair outside her marriage. Millicent Carlisle explores historical developments including life on the American home front during the Second World War, women's transition from homemaker to armament factory worker and the 1940s African-American March on Washington Movement promoting the rights and freedoms of blacks in America.
